The Association of Family, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences Students (AFANCSS) is the official departmental association for students in the Department of Family, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. Its motto is: “Trained to meet the basic needs of man.”

Our Mission

The mission of the Association of Family, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences Students (AFANCSS), OAU Chapter, is to foster a vibrant and inclusive academic community where students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and ethical values required to thrive in their chosen fields. The association is committed to enhancing the academic, professional, and personal development of its members through well-organized seminars, workshops, outreach programs, and meaningful collaborations. AFANCSS aims to raise awareness on critical issues related to nutrition, family well-being, and consumer education, while actively promoting solutions that address the unique challenges faced by individuals and communities both locally and globally. Through these efforts, the association seeks to empower its members for leadership, advocacy, and service in building a healthier, more informed society.
